Swiggy’s Toing App Is Here, Affordable Meals from From ₹50 to ₹250

Swiggy, one of India’s leading food delivery platforms, has rolled out a brand-new standalone application called Toing, with a strong focus on affordability. Designed to compete directly with rivals like Zepto Cafe and Rapido’s Ownly, Toing is now live in select areas of Pune.

The app marks Swiggy’s strategic entry into the low-cost meal delivery segment, targeting students and young professionals with limited disposable income. By offering budget-friendly meals, low platform fees, and transparent pricing, Toing sets itself apart as a wallet-friendly alternative in the fiercely competitive food delivery market.

Where is Toing Available in Pune?

Currently, Toing is being tested as a pilot project and is available only in select areas of Pune, including Kothrud, Hinjewadi, Wakad, Aundh, and Pimple Saudagar.

These areas were chosen due to their high student populations and young working professionals—two groups that often demand affordable, quick, and reliable food delivery options.

What Can You Order on Toing?

Unlike snack-focused delivery services, Toing offers affordable one-person meals that can easily substitute a desk lunch or dinner. Prices typically range between ₹100 and ₹150, though options are available from as low as ₹50 up to ₹250.

Menu highlights include: Mini meals, Burgers and sandwiches, and Cakes and desserts.

Flash deals under ₹99 are also expected, adding further appeal for budget-conscious users. Unlike Zepto Cafe, which largely relies on cloud kitchens, Toing sources food directly from partner restaurants, giving users access to authentic dishes at fair prices.

Key Features of Swiggy Toing

Swiggy has introduced several customer-friendly features with Toing to build trust and attract first-time users:

  • Affordable Meals: Focused on the ₹100–150 price range, tailored for students and professionals.

  • Low Platform Fee: Charges just ₹12, compared to ₹14.99 on the main Swiggy app.

  • No Surge Pricing: Users will not face inflated charges during peak hours.

  • Transparent Pricing: Restaurant prices listed on Toing will match offline menu prices, eliminating a common complaint with food delivery apps.

  • Fresh Branding: Unlike Swiggy’s signature orange theme, Toing features a green and pink color scheme to appeal to younger audiences.

Toing vs Swiggy’s Other Affordable Offerings

Swiggy already runs multiple initiatives around affordability, but Toing is a more specialized product:

  • ₹99 Store (Main Swiggy App): Offers meals priced between ₹49 and ₹149 across 175 cities.

  • Snacc (Standalone App): Provides canteen-style food delivered within 10 minutes.

  • Toing (Standalone App): Focused on small but proper meals priced around ₹100–150, sourced from restaurants rather than cloud kitchens.

With this model, Toing becomes Swiggy’s seventh standalone app, joining Instamart, Snacc, Dineout, Crew, and Pyng.

Competition: Toing vs Zepto Cafe vs Rapido’s Ownly

Swiggy’s Toing has entered a competitive space, where Zepto Cafe and Rapido’s Ownly are already fighting for market share.

  • Zepto Cafe: Focuses on quick meals, snacks, and beverages from cloud kitchens, largely catering to workplace consumption.

  • Rapido’s Ownly: Another affordable food delivery platform targeting students and budget users. Interestingly, Swiggy has a stake in Rapido but is reportedly selling it for up to ₹2,500 crore, a move that may have cleared the path for Toing’s launch.

Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety recently emphasized during an earnings call that new launches are meant to ensure competitors don’t gain an “uncontested opening” in growing market segments.

Why Did Swiggy Choose Pune Over Bengaluru?

This launch is significant because it is the first time Swiggy is testing a new app outside Bengaluru, its home turf. The choice of Pune was deliberate:

  • Lower market penetration: Unlike Bengaluru, where food delivery is already saturated, Pune still has room for growth.

  • Large student population: Pune is home to several universities and colleges, making it a hub for budget-conscious students.

  • Young workforce: With many IT parks and startups, the city has a large demographic of young professionals looking for quick, affordable meals.

This strategy makes Pune the perfect testbed for Toing’s low-cost delivery experiment.

Market Timing and Growth Potential

The timing of Toing’s launch coincides with the growing demand for affordable food delivery across India. According to company reports, Swiggy’s food delivery business grew its monthly transacting users from 14 million to 16.3 million between Q1FY25 and Q1FY26.

This shows a rising appetite for online meal delivery, especially among young urban consumers. By focusing on affordability and transparency, Toing positions itself to capture a significant slice of this market.

Investor and Market Reaction

The launch has also been positively reflected in the stock market. On the day of the announcement, Swiggy shares rose 1.13% to ₹424.80 on the BSE, even as the benchmark Sensex closed 0.15% lower at 81,785.74 points.

This indicates investor confidence in Swiggy’s ability to diversify its offerings and strengthen its competitive edge.

How to Download Swiggy Toing

The Toing app is already available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store. It operates independently of the main Swiggy application, allowing users to explore its unique offerings without overlap.

Final Thoughts

Swiggy’s launch of Toing in Pune reflects the company’s pivot toward an “affordability-first” strategy. With competitive pricing, no surge fees, transparent menus, and a youth-friendly design, Toing is well-positioned to cater to students and professionals seeking reliable meals without straining their budgets.

If the pilot project succeeds in Pune, Swiggy may expand Toing to other cities, potentially redefining India’s low-cost food delivery segment and intensifying competition with Zepto and Rapido.

For now, Pune residents in select areas can enjoy this fresh, affordable way to order meals—and the rest of India may not have to wait long before Toing goes national.
