The escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have now begun to impact students, as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially postponed select papers of the CA May 2025 examinations. On May 8, ICAI announced that CA Final, CA Intermediate, and International Taxation (Post Qualification Course – PQC) exams scheduled between May 9 and 14 will not be conducted as originally planned due to prevailing security concerns.
ICAI Announces Rescheduling of Key Papers
According to the announcement, Group II examinations for both the CA Final and CA Intermediate courses, previously scheduled for May 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14, stand postponed. The ICAI clarified that revised exam dates will be announced “in due course.” Students have been advised to keep an eye on the official ICAI website — www.icai.org — for real-time updates and notifications.
Exams Affected by the Postponement
The following papers have been deferred under the new ICAI update:
-
CA Final Group II: Originally set for May 8, 10, and 13
-
CA Intermediate Group II: Initially scheduled for May 9, 11, and 14
-
PQC – International Taxation Assessment Test (INTT–AT): Four-hour-long professional level papers
All of these now fall under the postponed exam schedule.
What Exams Remain Unchanged?
While the postponement affects a significant portion of the exam calendar, several papers will proceed as planned:
-
CA Foundation Exams: These will be conducted as per the original schedule.
-
CA Final Group I Exams: Held earlier on May 2, 4, and 6, these have already been completed.
-
CA Intermediate Group I Exams: Successfully conducted on May 3, 5, and 7.
-
Remaining CA Final Exams (Group II): Scheduled for May 15, 17, 19, and 21, and currently not affected.
Additionally, ICAI confirmed that examinations at international centres — including Dubai, Doha, Muscat, and Kathmandu — will continue as per schedule.
Medium of Answer Papers
Candidates are permitted to write their examination papers in either English or Hindi, with the exception of the International Taxation papers, which must be attempted in English only.
Broader Impact on Academic Schedules
The impact of the geopolitical tensions is being felt beyond ICAI exams. In Kashmir, major universities like Kashmir University and Cluster University have also postponed their exams scheduled during the same period, citing security and logistical concerns.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to monitor the ICAI's official portal regularly to avoid missing any crucial updates regarding rescheduled exam dates and related announcements.
