A lifeless snake was allegedly discovered in the mid-day meal that about 100 students in Bihar's Araria district consumed, according to authorities, who added that the youngsters are receiving treatment and are "out of danger."
The event happened on Saturday at Jogbani Nagar Parishad Ward No. 21 at Amouna Middle School.
“All the schoolchildren who consumed mid-day meals have been admitted at Forbesganj sub-divisional hospital, and fortunately, all are safe,” said Araria district education officer (DEO) Rajkumar.
“A probe has been ordered, and those found guilty would not be spared,” he added.
According to the DEO, an NGO was given the responsibility of providing lunch at the school, and “We are seriously looking into the matter and the license of the NGO will be canceled if their involvement is surfaced.”
