Television actor Ashish Kapoor, widely known for his roles in popular Hindi TV serials, has been arrested in connection with a high-profile rape case in Delhi’s Civil Lines area. The incident, which allegedly took place at a house party in early August, has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry and among his fans.

The Case: What Happened in Delhi Civil Lines?

According to the police, the FIR was registered on August 11, 2024, at the Civil Lines police station in Delhi. The complaint was filed by a 24-year-old woman, employed at a private company and residing in Punjabi Bagh.

The woman alleged that she was invited to a house party in Civil Lines by a friend. Upon arriving at the residence, she reportedly found a group of five people, including her friend and another woman. As per her statement, the group allegedly spiked her drink with a narcotic substance, causing her to lose consciousness.

When she regained partial awareness, she claimed that she had been gang-raped, beaten, and filmed. The victim further stated that the accused threatened to release the footage on social media if she spoke out. After the assault, the suspects allegedly abandoned her outside the house.

FIR and Changing Statements

The FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 64 (punishment for rape). Initially, the woman alleged that multiple men, including Ashish Kapoor, were involved in the crime. However, during subsequent questioning, she revised her statement, later naming only Ashish Kapoor as the prime accused.

In her revised testimony, the victim claimed that Kapoor assaulted her in a bathroom during the party while others remained outside. She also accused the wife of Kapoor’s friend of assaulting her physically during the incident.

Police investigations so far have revealed no video evidence of the alleged recording, but CCTV footage confirmed that Kapoor and the complainant entered the washroom together.

Medical Potency Test at AIIMS

Following his arrest, Ashish Kapoor underwent a medical potency test at AIIMS Delhi, a standard procedure in rape investigations. Delhi Police confirmed that the report from this test would serve as crucial evidence in the case.

The complainant, a Gurugram-based professional, gave a detailed statement to the police. She said she received a phone call from her friend inviting her to the Civil Lines party. After consuming alcohol at the gathering, she began to feel disoriented, which led to the alleged assault in the bathroom.

She also alleged that after the incident, she was beaten by another woman at the party. Although she initially claimed the incident was filmed, police have yet to recover any such video.

The victim immediately approached the authorities after being left outside the residence, which led to the case being registered within hours of the incident.
