Confiscated Tobacco products worth 70 lakhs truck parked near Police Chowki gets stolen

Early on Sunday morning, anonymous people broke into a confiscated vehicle that was stationed outside the Khed Shivapur police Chowki compound which was filled with gutkha items costing 70 lakh.

The vehicle with prohibited commodities was reportedly taken from the Khed Shivapur toll plaza on Thursday, according to Rajgad police. The described truck was parked close to the Khed Shivapur police chowki after being reported to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

When they discovered the truck was missing, the police organized teams and started a search. Later, in Shindewadi village, the truck was discovered without the prohibited commodities.

Sachin Patil, senior inspector, at Rajgad police station, said, “We have recovered the confiscated truck and the search is on to find the gutkha products.”

The Shindewadi and Khed Shivapur police jurisdictional areas are under the control of the Rajgad police, and they have previously taken action against gutka smuggling there. According to police officials, the vehicle was parked close to the police chowki since the court's order to dispose of the collected gutkha had not yet been received.

Under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 379 (stealing), a case has been filed against unidentified individuals.
