In a startling incident, a seven-year-old boy is facing allegations of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in their Kanpur Dehat neighbourhood. This troubling event unfolded late on a Sunday night in a village within the Akbarpur police station jurisdiction. It only came to light on Tuesday when the girl's mother filed a complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR under sections 376 of the IPC and section 5/6 of the POCSO Act.
Both young children have been taken to the district hospital, and a medical examination has confirmed the assault. The girl's mother revealed that her daughter had gone out to play when this unfortunate incident occurred.
The Akbarpur Kotwali police station inspector, Satish Singh, emphasized the need for caution in handling this case. He explained that when a child below the age of seven is involved in an offence, it does not typically fall under the category of a crime. However, further steps will be determined after seeking legal advice. The FIR was officially filed on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the legal process.
