When desperation meets a broken system the result can be shocking.

In Odisha's Keonjhar district a tribal man dug up his sister's grave and carried her skeleton to the bank just to withdraw Rs 20000 from her account.

After his sister died in January the man visited the bank several times. Each time officials told him to bring the account holder in person.

With no understanding of nominee or legal heir formalities and no proper guidance he took those words literally.

Authorities later admitted the process was never properly explained to him exposing a serious communication gap in rural banking.

Police have now stepped in to help process the withdrawal and the remains were reburied respectfully.

The incident raises tough questions about how financial systems fail those on the margins where lack of awareness turns routine procedures into traumatic events.
