On June 21, 2026, India and the world marked the 12th International Day of Yoga with unprecedented enthusiasm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national observance at the iconic Red Road in Kolkata, joining thousands of participants in the Common Yoga Protocol.
This year’s theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing" (स्वस्थ आयु के लिए योग), highlighted yoga's transformative role in enhancing physical vitality, mental resilience, and emotional balance as we grow older.
Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister emphasized that yoga is not just a physical exercise or limited to any age group; it is a holistic approach to life that helps maintain energy and potential, ensuring we feel as vibrant at 70 as we did at 50.
With over 210 Indian missions organizing events at nearly 2,500 locations globally, the day has truly become the world’s largest collective celebration of health and harmony.
"Yoga is India's gift to the world, guiding humanity amid global challenges." – President Droupadi Murmu.
