Army man & friend lie about ‘PFI’ assault, video goes viral, get promptly arrested by Kerala Police

An Army soldier who claimed he was attacked by six individuals who also painted "PFI" on his back was arrested on Tuesday along with a friend for allegedly making a false statement. According to the police, their investigation revealed that the soldier's claims were false.

Based on Shinekumar's complaint that he was attacked, police had opened an investigation, on Monday. On Sunday night, the incident was been reported to the Kadakkal police limits in Kerala's Kollam district.

On Tuesday, police announced that they had found that Shinekumar, who was home on leave, had made up the fictitious case to get attention. The soldier's friend admitted to faking the claim, according to the police.

The police reportedly also seized green paint, a brush, and tape from his friend's house that were allegedly used to create the incident.

In his initial complaint, Shinekumar said that while riding a motorbike in the Kadakkal police jurisdiction's Chanapara village, he was led into a rubber plantation by two individuals on the pretext that an intoxicated person was lying in the plantation and required assistance. Then, according to Shinekumar, a group of six individuals attacked him in the plantation, tore off his shirt, wrote "PFI" on his back, and bound his hands together using packing tape.
