Hyderabad’s Unique Post-Diwali Buffalo Carnival! 🐃🎉
Forget playing the flute before a buffalo! In Hyderabad, buffaloes become the stars of a grand cultural celebration called Sadar, also known as Dunnapothula Panduga.
Celebrated by the Yadav community on the second day after Diwali, the festival honours prized buffaloes, which are groomed with oil, decorated with vibrant colours and adorned with floral garlands.
The celebrations feature grand street processions, traditional dances and energetic drumbeats. Some prized buffaloes are reportedly valued at prices comparable to luxury cars!
More than just a carnival, Sadar reflects the Yadav community’s rich cultural heritage and deep bond with its livestock.
