BCCI Rewards Iyer & Kishan With Central Contracts After Domestic Comeback

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the central contract for 2024-25, and Shreyas Iyer, along with Ishan Kishan, who missed out on a contract last year, has been included in the list. BCCI didn't include them last time due to their unavailability for domestic matches. Both made a strong comeback in the domestic circuit and IPL 2025, ensuring the central contract this time. Iyer has been placed in Grade B, with players like Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep, Axar, and Jaiswal in the list.

BCCI provided the contract for 34 players, and it includes several new players in the list. Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana are provided with a central contract this time and are placed in Grade C. Varun Chakravarthy got the contract for his exceptional performance in the Champions Trophy. Also, players like Nitish Kumar Reddy showed amazing character during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). He performed great in the lower order and also scored a valuable 100 in the 4th test.

Despite retiring from T20 International, Virat, Rohit, and Jadeja get the A+ contract along with Jasprit Bumrah on the list. This shows that the BCCI is showing trust in senior players, hence all 4 players retained their Grade A+. Rishabh Pant, who made a comeback after the accident, has been promoted to Grade A.

BCCI has also released players from the central contract, which includes: Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, KS Bharat, Avesh Khan, and R Ashwin, who retired from International Cricket recently.

While the BCCI has not officially disclosed the salary details, the expected salary is:

  • Grade A+: ₹7 crore

  • Grade A: ₹5 crore

  • Grade B: ₹3 crore

  • Grade C: ₹1 crore

The BCCI’s latest central contract update reflects a clear message — consistent performance and commitment to domestic cricket are non-negotiable. The return of Iyer and Kishan serves as a reward for resilience, while the addition of young prospects underlines the board’s focus on building a strong core for the future. At the same time, continued faith in veterans like Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja suggests experience still holds immense value in shaping Indian cricket’s next phase. With a balanced mix of youth and experience, the 2024–25 contract list sets a strong tone for the year ahead.
