Real Madrid is on the verge of signing 20-year-old Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth despite interest from big Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea. The Spanish giants have agreed to pay 50 million British pounds to Bournemouth in three instalments. Bournemouth will make a huge profit from this deal as they brought the Spaniard for just 13 million pounds in the summer of 2024. The transfer is expected to finalise before the Club World Cup. Huijsen will be the second defender who will be joining Madrid after Trent Alexander-Arnold Arnold who will be coming for free from Liverpool. Dean Huijsen has been the best player for Bournemouth this season. he has been a key figure in Bournemouth’s defence and has made over 29 appearances in the league whilst scoring three crucial goals for the club. The three goals he has scored have come against Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs, all three big English clubs.
Who is Dean Huijsen?
Dean Huijsen was born on April 14, 2005, and he plays as a centre back. The young boy is 1.95 meters tall and is known for his aerial prowess and ball-playing ability. Dean Huijsen began his football journey with Costa Unida FC. After that, he joined Málaga’s youth academy in 2015. In 2021, the turning point came when he joined Juventus, and in 2023, he made his professional debut with Juventus Next Gen. Huijsen had a loan spell at Roma in 2024, where the Spaniard made 13 appearances. In July 2024, Huijsen signed for AFC Bournemouth for a fee of 13 million pounds and is now signing for the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid.
An honour to play for Madrid
Earlier in the season, when Huijsen was asked about his reaction to the news that Real Madrid is interested in bringing him to Madrid, Huijsen said that
‘Its an honour when you hear about Real Madrid interest, I am proud to have such a big club interested in me”
Huijsen also mentioned that Sergio Ramos, the greatest Madrid defender, is his idol.
Xabi Alonso asked Madrid to accelerate
Xabi Alonso, who is set to join Real Madrid after Carlo Ancelotti as the manager, wanted Real Madrid to act fast on the deal as he considers Huijsen a top talent for the future and a solution to Madrid’s defence. Several Premier Clubs wanted to get the deal done last week only, but Dean decided to wait and give priority to Real Madrid, and now he is all set to join Madrid and play under Xabi Alonso.
Contract discussions ongoing
Dean Huijsen’s camp has reportedly landed in Madrid to close the deal with Madrid, as Bournemouth and Madrid have already reached an agreement on the fee structure. The length of Dean’s contract is being discussed with a 5-year deal on the table by Madrid, set to be signed by the player.
Dean will join the top talents of football in Madrid with Kylian Mbappe, Vinícius Jr., Jude Bellingham and the rest of the Madrid players. Dean will be an important player for Madrid next season and the fans will be hoping that he thrives in the white jersey.
