Rajkot’s ‘Jalti Indoni Raas’ Keeps a Fiery Navratri Tradition Alive 🔥🙏
In Rajkot, Gujarat, the Shri Bajrang Garbi Mandal continues its 19 year tradition of Jalti Indoni Raas, a striking performance during Navratri.
Six specially trained women perform Garba while balancing flaming pots on their heads and holding burning torches in both hands. The performance takes place on the third, sixth and ninth nights of Navratri.
For the dancers, the ritual represents deep faith and devotion to Maa Durga. However, the use of open flames makes the performance hazardous and highlights the importance of strict safety measures.
