Major Accident Averted: Penchvalley Express AC Coach Fills with Smoke Near Itarsi

A major disaster was narrowly avoided in Madhya Pradesh when a sudden short circuit caused thick smoke to fill an air-conditioned coach of the moving Penchvalley Express. The incident occurred near Itarsi, triggering panic among the passengers onboard.

• The Incident: As the Penchvalley Express reached Pol Pathar railway station near Itarsi, smoke began billowing from the electronic panel box of the B2 AC coach.

• The Cause: Railway authorities identified the cause as a short circuit in the electronic panel, which led to the wiring overheating and the insulation melting, filling the entire coach with smoke.

• Immediate Rescue: Alert railway staff immediately brought the train to a halt. Showing remarkable presence of mind, they safely evacuated all 72 passengers from the affected B2 coach and relocated them to other compartments.

• Train Delayed: Following the emergency evacuation, the train was halted at the station for approximately an hour to ensure complete safety and to assess the damage.

• Further Action: The damaged coach was later detached from the train upon reaching Itarsi junction, and a thorough technical investigation was launched by railway officials.
