A 35-year-old court staff member, Harish Singh Mahar, died by s*icide on January 9, 2026, after jumping from the 6th floor of the Saket District Court complex in Delhi.
Mahar, who served as an Ahlmad and was 60% differently-abled, left a suicide note citing extreme work pressure and mental stress as the primary reasons for his actions.
The Delhi Police recovered the note, which clarified that he did not blame any specific individual but struggled with the heavy workload despite his physical challenges.
This tragic event sparked immediate protests from colleagues and lawyers, who demanded better working conditions and systemic support for staff with disabilities.
The local police have since initiated a formal investigation to further understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
