Tamil Nadu: Flash Floods Disrupt Traffic Near Kodaikanal’s Silver Cascade Falls

Intense Northeast monsoon rainfall has disrupted travel to Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, after flash floods sent muddy water rushing down the hills near the popular Silver Cascade Falls.

The sudden flow of floodwater left cars and buses stranded for nearly two hours, bringing traffic to a standstill and raising concerns about tourist safety.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued orange and yellow weather alerts across several districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall until October 26.

Tamil Nadu has reportedly received 13.3 cm of rainfall this October, 23% above normal levels, adding to concerns over flooding and travel disruptions.

Authorities and social media users are urging tourists to follow official weather advisories, avoid flooded roads and reconsider trips to hill stations during periods of intense rainfall.
