Businessman in Goa, Shyam Patil (50), his wife Jyoti Patil (37) and his son (12) died at different locations and their bodies were found on Thursday, 29th June. Goa police said that this may be suicide as the family was facing a lot of financial issues. His wife and son’s bodies were floating on Devbagh beach, Karnataka, and he hanged himself in Quepem, Goa.
Police said, “It’s not yet confirmed whether his wife and son jumped or Shyam pushed them from the Kali Bridge, Karwar.” The family was travelling from their residence in Goa to their native place, Karwar in Karntaka. According to a Goa police investigation, "they either jumped off or her husband pushed them. Then he drove to Goa. Near Quepem, Padi forest, he hanged himself on a tree."
During his drive to Goa, he sent a voice message about his suicide to friends and family. He mentioned the major financial crisis the family had been facing for a long time. Police also found a written note in his car about losses he faced in business and due to this, he is ending his life. He had a business of supplying labour for different industries in Goa.
Talking to the relatives of his wife, they also told the same story to police that there were lots of financial problems in Shyam’s family.
He had invested in Ponzi schemes and also borrowed loans from several people. Police are still probing around the suspicious circumstances.
