Free Cooking Gas from Cow Dung: West Bengal Village Runs on Biogas

While the world is struggling with rising petrol and LPG prices, two families in Gopalpur village of Berhampur, West Bengal, are cooking completely free using biogas made from cow dung.

Area residents Shyamsundar Garai and Amjan Garai have revived an old biogas plant.

They collect dung from their four cows, put it in the chamber, and convert it into methane gas that directly reaches their kitchen stove. No cylinder, no booking, no monthly bills.

The families now want the government to repair and upgrade the plant so the entire village can benefit from this eco-friendly fuel.

This inspiring story shows how what people call waste can actually become fuel for the future.

What do you think about using cow dung biogas for cooking? Would you adopt it?
