A tragic parapet segment collapse on the under-construction Metro Line 4 in Mulund has claimed the life of Ramdhan Yadav (46) and left three others injured.
In a swift response, the MMRDA imposed a ₹5 crore fine on the contractor (Reliance Infrastructure-Astaldi and sub-contractor Milan Road Buildtech) and a ₹1 crore fine on the consulting consortium.
Following orders from Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, the compensation for the victim’s family was increased to ₹15 lakh, while the state will bear all medical expenses for the injured.
Five officials from the construction and consulting firms have been arrested for negligence, and a high-level safety audit has been launched across all metro sites.
