Ken Betwa Project Protests Villages Drown Tiger Reserve At Risk

People are lying on funeral pyres in protest against the Ken Betwa River Linking Project.

It is India's first major river interlinking plan promising water to Bundelkhand.

But on ground 24 villages will be impacted and 8 will be completely submerged.

The project promises irrigation for 10 lakh hectares and drinking water to 62 lakh people.

But inside Panna Tiger Reserve 16 villages are being relocated to make way for the dam.

Thousands of tribal families are not just losing homes. They are losing forests, livelihoods and their entire identity.

Over 5500 hectares of jungle including tiger habitat will go under water.

On paper everything looks perfect. But the ground reality tells a very different story.

How many lives must be sacrificed in the name of development?
