A new and strict rule may soon be implemented in Mumbai and nearby areas.

Auto drivers might have to pass a Marathi language test to continue operating. If they fail the test, their permit could be cancelled.

This drive is expected to start from the Mira Bhayandar region first. The main purpose is to make communication easier between auto drivers and local passengers.

However, this decision has sparked debate – should the language test be made mandatory immediately, or should drivers be given some time to adapt and learn?
