#UnsungHeroes : One Man Removed Millions of Kilos of Garbage! 🌊🐢❤️
What if one person could inspire an entire community to clean a beach?
Welcome to another episode of Unsung Heroes, featuring environmental activist Afroz Shah and Mumbai’s Versova Beach.
In October 2015, Afroz Shah and his 84-year-old neighbour began cleaning the heavily polluted beach. Slowly, thousands of volunteers joined them, and together they reportedly removed around 5.5 million kilos of waste.
After years of effort, the beach transformed. And then came a beautiful sign of nature’s return—Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings were spotted heading towards the sea. 🐢🌊
In 2016, Afroz Shah was honoured with the UN Champions of the Earth award for his environmental work. 🏆
Today, Madhya Pradesh’s Bittu Tabahi is making headlines for his efforts to clean the Ajnar River.
Two people. Two places. One message: You don’t need a crowd to create change. You just need to start. 🌱❤️
Would you take the first step to clean something in your city? 👇
