A wave of shock and outrage has swept across Assam following the tragic and mysterious death of Himashree Boro, a 20-year-old college student and dancer from Guwahati. Returning home from a dance performance in Visakhapatnam, Himashree boarded the S2 coach of the Dibrugarh-bound Vivek Express on the night of October 5.
During her journey on October 6, she reportedly contacted her family, expressing fear and unease regarding several male passengers behaving inappropriately nearby. Shortly after, her family lost contact with her.
While her luggage and identification documents were later found intact inside the moving train, Himashree was missing. Her body was subsequently discovered near the railway tracks in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district. Authorities are now closely examining CCTV footage from the Visakhapatnam station, which showed an unidentified man approaching her before boarding, along with call records and videos.
As police investigate whether she fell accidentally or was pushed, her devastated family and concerned citizens suspect premeditated murder and are demanding a high-level probe to ensure strict punishment for the culprits.
