Why Is CJP Planning Another Protest Over Gyanesh Kumar? 🗳️

The CJP has announced another protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, citing concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

An Indian Express investigation reported that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi raised formal objections at least 14 times in 10 months over issues including voter deletions, Form 6 and centralised access to electoral-roll data.

The SIR process has also seen more than 13 crore names excluded from draft rolls across 30 states and Union Territories. However, being excluded from a draft roll does not by itself establish that voters permanently lost their voting rights.

The Election Commission has disputed the allegations surrounding the process, while the internal objections reported by The Indian Express remain part of the ongoing controversy.
