Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: ₹2,500 Monthly Financial Assistance for Women

The Delhi Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has officially approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana to financially empower the women of the national capital. Originally announced as the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, this flagship welfare scheme will provide eligible women with a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 through direct benefit transfer. The first installment of the scheme is scheduled to be released around Raksha Bandhan on August 28, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant must be a woman aged between 21 and 60 years.
The applicant or her family must have been residents of Delhi for at least 10 years.
The annual family income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
The applicant must be a registered voter in the national capital.

Who is Not Eligible?

Women who are income taxpayers, government employees, or receiving pensions are excluded from the scheme.
Families owning a four-wheeler or consuming more than 2,400 units of electricity annually will not qualify.
Women with more than three living children are also ineligible for the benefits.

How to Apply: The official registration portal (www.dly.delhi.gov.in) was launched on August 1, 2026. Beneficiaries can register online by uploading required documents like their Aadhaar card, voter ID, and income proof, along with a self-declaration of residency and no criminal record. Under this initiative, the ₹2,500 can be deposited entirely into a recurring or fixed deposit account, or split with ₹1,000 credited to a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for daily household expenses.
