October 2 Significance: Gandhi Jayanti, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Mahatma's Jamshedpur Visits

While October 2 is widely celebrated across India as Gandhi Jayanti, it also marks the birth anniversary of the nation's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. However, for the people of Jamshedpur, this date holds an even deeper historical significance.

Mahatma Gandhi visited the steel city three times. His first visit was on August 7, 1925, to mediate a major labor dispute at Tata Steel, where he addressed a massive gathering of 20,000 workers, leading to a successful settlement on August 9.

He returned on May 4, 1934, as part of his Harijan campaign to gather public support and donations. His final stop in Jamshedpur occurred in 1940 while returning from the Ramgarh Congress.

This video explores the lesser-known historical connections of October 2, ensuring that the legacy of both great leaders and their local impact is remembered in rich, factual detail.
