A horrific aviation disaster was narrowly avoided thanks to the extraordinary bravery of Indian Captain Smit Macchar and quick-thinking passengers.

During a flydubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, the co-pilot allegedly stabbed Captain Smit in a shocking attempt to crash the aircraft. Bleeding heavily, with the cockpit floor covered in blood, Captain Smit displayed incredible presence of mind by unlocking the cockpit doors.

This allowed passengers to rush in just as the plane plummeted nearly 14,000 feet in a terrifying 29 seconds from its 30,000-foot cruising altitude. A passenger named Hayan played a crucial role in overpowering the rogue co-pilot and stabilizing the aircraft, crediting his life-saving knowledge to the TV show Air Crash Investigation (Mayday).

With 174 people on board, two off-duty flydubai pilots traveling as passengers eventually took control and executed a safe emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. As Captain Smit continues to receive treatment for his severe injuries, this chilling incident highlights a miraculous tale of survival, quick thinking, and collective heroism.
