A shocking incident of betrayal has emerged from Bhopal, where a famous UPSC teacher, Shubhra Ranjan, was kidnapped and robbed of ₹1.9 crore by her former student, Priyank Sharma.
On April 30, the accused picked her up from the Taj Hotel and took her to a flat in the Bag Sewaniya area.
There, she was held at gunpoint for four hours. In a chilling move, the kidnappers organized a "Sundarkand" path in the flat so that her screams would be drowned out by the noise.
Under threat, the teacher was forced to transfer ₹1.9 crore online.
The investigation revealed that the crime was a result of an old grudge over business losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhopal Crime Branch acted swiftly and arrested Priyank Sharma from the AIIMS ICU on May 3.
A total of six people have been arrested in connection with this case so far.
