A sea of devotees descended upon the sacred Narmada river ghats in Madhya Pradesh today to mark the highly auspicious Somvati Amavasya.
From the early hours of 4:00 AM, lakhs of 'Shradhalus' reached iconic spots including Budhni Ghat, Berkhari Ghat, Bandraban, Joshipur, and the Narmada Bridge to perform holy baths and seek blessings.
The overwhelming turnout led to significant traffic jams on major routes and bridges, requiring a three-hour intensive effort by the police administration to restore order and ensure safety.
Local municipal officials were also on the ground to manage cleanliness and water facilities for the massive crowd.
The entire region was immersed in a spirit of worship and traditional reverence as people traveled from far and wide to pay their respects to 'Mother Narmada.'
