The sudden alert that appeared on your phone today was not a hack or an emergency.

It was part of a nationwide mock drill by the National Disaster Management Authority.

The Self Broadcast Alert System was being tested to ensure instant warnings can reach people during real disasters like earthquakes, floods or cyclones.

During this test loud beeps, vibrations and alert messages on phones are completely normal.

This was done only for awareness and to check the safety system.

If you received the alert it means the system is working correctly. So do not panic.
