Tired of recharging your prepaid SIM every 28 days? There’s a new change for consumers.

TRAI has introduced new rules requiring telecom operators to offer 30 day and monthly renewable Voice and SMS only plans, giving users more flexibility.

Under the new framework, users can also choose a plan that renews on the same date every month. If that date doesn’t exist in a particular month, renewal will happen on the last day of that month.

The rules also require operators to offer Voice and SMS only options without forcing consumers to pay for data they don’t need.

But one question remains:

Will these new options actually reduce your telecom spending, or simply give you more flexibility in choosing your recharge cycle?
