Have you ever wondered why India celebrates Children's Day on November 14th while the international community celebrates on November 20th?

Originally, India also observed Children's Day on November 20th. However, a major historical shift occurred in 1964 following the passing of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Because of his deep affection for kids, who lovingly called him 'Chacha Nehru', the nation decided to honor his legacy by moving the national celebration to his birthday, November 14th.

On the other hand, the United Nations passed special declarations for children's rights and safety on November 20th, cementing it as the international date. Delivering engaging historical insights and educational content remains a top priority for the VYGR news desk.
