Ministry of AYUSH Partners with Zepto to Bring AYUSH Products Online

India’s traditional healthcare systems are entering a new phase of digital expansion. In a significant move to strengthen access to authentic herbal medicines and wellness products, the Ministry of AYUSH has partnered with quick-commerce platform Zepto to bring certified AYUSH products to consumers through a dedicated online storefront.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate India’s centuries-old health traditions with modern digital commerce platforms. By enabling easier discovery and purchase of verified products, the collaboration aims to improve accessibility, ensure quality compliance, and expand market opportunities for AYUSH manufacturers across the country.

A Landmark MoU to Strengthen Digital Access to AYUSH Products

The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) and Zepto. The agreement was signed in New Delhi on January 28, 2026, with the Ministry of AYUSH facilitating the initiative. Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav presided over the event, while Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Rajesh Kotecha was also present during the signing. The MoU was formally executed by AYUSHEXCIL Chairman Anurag Sharma and Zepto Co-founder Kaivalya Vohra.

The partnership aims to create a structured digital pathway that allows consumers across India to access authentic AYUSH medicines and wellness products through verified online channels. By leveraging digital platforms, the initiative seeks to strengthen the visibility of AYUSH products while maintaining regulatory compliance and consumer trust.

Officials emphasised that the collaboration represents a major step toward integrating traditional Indian healthcare systems with the rapidly growing quick-commerce ecosystem. It is expected to significantly improve the digital reach of the AYUSH sector and enhance consumer confidence in traditional wellness solutions.

Dedicated AYUSH Storefront on Zepto

A central component of the initiative is the launch of a dedicated AYUSH storefront on the Zepto platform. This specialised section will allow consumers to easily discover verified AYUSH medicines and wellness products in one place.

Through this digital storefront, customers will be able to browse and purchase authentic products sourced from approved manufacturers. The platform aims to simplify access while maintaining transparency in product sourcing and compliance with established quality standards.

According to Zepto’s leadership, the new storefront is designed to offer consumers a seamless digital experience while ensuring that products listed on the platform meet prescribed regulatory and quality requirements. The initiative is also expected to improve product discoverability and provide consumers with greater clarity and confidence when purchasing traditional wellness products online.

Ensuring Quality and Regulatory Compliance

Quality assurance and regulatory compliance form a key pillar of the collaboration. Under the MoU, AYUSHEXCIL will play an important role in identifying and recommending eligible AYUSH manufacturers for onboarding onto the digital platform. This process will ensure that only verified producers meeting prescribed standards are able to sell their products online.

The partnership will also promote adherence to the AYUSH Quality Mark (AQM), a certification system designed to guarantee product authenticity and compliance with recognised quality benchmarks. Encouraging manufacturers to adopt this mark will help strengthen consumer trust and ensure that only quality-assured products reach digital consumers.

In addition, AYUSHEXCIL will review educational and informational content related to AYUSH systems before it is published on the platform. This step is intended to ensure that consumers receive credible and accurate information about the use and benefits of traditional healthcare products.

Supporting MSMEs and AYUSH Entrepreneurs

Another key objective of the initiative is to provide new opportunities for AYUSH manufacturers—particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Many traditional product makers struggle to reach nationwide markets due to limited distribution channels.

By creating a digital pathway through the Zepto platform, the collaboration will allow these manufacturers to access a much wider consumer base. AYUSHEXCIL will facilitate this process by recommending eligible companies and helping them navigate regulatory and quality requirements for online sales.

For small businesses and emerging wellness brands, the partnership offers simplified onboarding and increased visibility within India’s rapidly expanding digital marketplace. This is expected to help boost the growth of AYUSH-based enterprises while strengthening the overall ecosystem.

Consumer Awareness and Education Initiatives

Beyond facilitating online sales, the collaboration also focuses on improving public awareness about traditional healthcare systems.

Under the agreement, AYUSHEXCIL and Zepto will jointly undertake consumer awareness initiatives aimed at promoting responsible and informed use of AYUSH products. Educational content explaining the principles, benefits, and correct usage of various AYUSH systems will be made available on the platform after validation by the Export Council.

These initiatives are intended to address misinformation, improve consumer understanding, and encourage the responsible adoption of traditional wellness practices in modern lifestyles. By combining commerce with credible educational resources, the partnership aims to create a more informed digital ecosystem for health and wellness.

Government Vision for Digital Integration of Traditional Medicine

Speaking about the initiative, Union AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav highlighted the role of innovation-driven startups in improving access to trusted wellness products across India.

He noted that partnerships with credible digital platforms demonstrate how technology can responsibly connect India’s rich traditional knowledge systems with modern distribution networks. Such collaborations help bring centuries-old wellness traditions to a wider audience through transparent and convenient channels.

The initiative also aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to integrate traditional knowledge systems with modern digital infrastructure. By leveraging e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, the government aims to ensure that authentic AYUSH products become more accessible to consumers nationwide.

Officials believe that technology-driven partnerships like this will play a crucial role in scaling the AYUSH sector while maintaining quality standards and regulatory safeguards.

Aligning with National Development Initiatives

The partnership between AYUSHEXCIL and Zepto supports several broader policy objectives of the Indian government. It complements initiatives such as Digital India, Ease of Doing Business, and Make in India, all of which aim to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation across sectors.

By enabling digital access to traditional healthcare products, the initiative strengthens India’s ambition to position AYUSH as a globally recognised health and wellness system. It also supports the long-term goal of integrating traditional and modern healthcare approaches in a balanced and evidence-based manner.

Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Commerce

The integration of AYUSH products into quick-commerce platforms marks a significant shift in how traditional wellness systems are distributed and consumed. Until recently, access to such products was largely limited to specialised stores, pharmacies, or offline networks.

The new digital framework offers a more convenient way for consumers to discover and purchase verified products from the comfort of their homes. At the same time, the structured onboarding process ensures that quality, authenticity, and regulatory compliance remain central to the ecosystem.

For the AYUSH sector, the collaboration signals a transition from fragmented online listings to a curated and government-supported digital marketplace designed to build trust and transparency.

The Road Ahead for Digital AYUSH

The partnership between AYUSHEXCIL and Zepto is expected to transform the way traditional healthcare products reach consumers in India. By combining regulatory oversight with digital distribution, the initiative provides a scalable model for promoting authentic wellness solutions in the digital economy.

As more manufacturers join the platform and consumer awareness initiatives expand, the dedicated AYUSH storefront could become a key gateway for millions of consumers seeking natural and holistic health products.

Ultimately, the collaboration represents a broader vision—one where India’s traditional medical heritage is supported by modern technology, transparent supply chains, and accessible digital marketplaces. Through initiatives like this, AYUSH systems are poised to strengthen their role in India’s healthcare landscape while expanding their reach in the rapidly evolving global wellness industry.
